In South Wales, coal was generally transported from the colliery to the South Wales ports in wagons owned by the collieries. Here are some Private Owner Wagons I have built. They are all Slaters wagon kits. The Ocean wagon is pre-lettered by Slaters. The Bute and Llantwit have been pre-lettered by Dragon Models. The Fernhill wagon was lettered using Dragon Models transfers. They have all been weathered with black on the sides to represent the coal dust generated when loading and unloading. The chassis' have been weathered with a dark greyish brown to represent track dirt. |

Fernhill colliery was located at the head of the Rhondda Fawr vallery. Later Fernhill also owned colleries at Tynewydd near Porth and Moscow
level at Blaenrhondda.
Ocean owned many colleries in the Rhondda, Taff and Dare valleys. |
